Things to do in Palayam

Palayam, also called Cantonment, is the administrative middle of Thiruvananthapuram. The Palayam Juma Mosque, St Joseph's Cathedral and a Ganapathy temple stand within a few steps of each other, with Connemara Market, the University of Kerala's Senate House and the Legislative Assembly close by. For events it is the sports and public-meeting district: Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium hosts Thiruvananthapuram Kombans' Super League Kerala home games, University Stadium takes athletics meets and football, and the 1896 VJT Hall, now Ayyankali Hall, is used for exhibitions and book fairs. The Kerala Legislature International Book Festival is held in the Assembly complex each January.
