Kazhakkoottam, about 15 km north of the centre where the NH 66 bypass rejoins the old highway, is the city's IT suburb. Technopark's campuses, the Greenfield International Stadium at Kariavattom and the KINFRA Film and Video Park, which houses the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy and the Magic Planet theme park, are all within a few kilometres. Al Saj Arena on the bypass is the area's big hall for weddings, expos and ticketed shows. Restaurants, pubs in hotels and gaming cafes cater to the tech workforce, so weeknight quizzes, screenings and meetups are common. Thumba's beach and the space museum are nearby.
