Things to do in Vellayambalam

Vellayambalam is the roundabout where the Museum road meets the avenue to Kowdiar, and it has become the city's evening hangout. Manaveeyam Veedhi, a 180-metre street that has hosted street plays since the 1990s, was rebuilt under the Smart City project and reopened in 2023 as a pedestrian-friendly cultural street with wall art, buskers, food carts and impromptu music late into the evening. Jimmy George Sports Hub, the 2,000-seat indoor stadium, takes volleyball, basketball and badminton fixtures as well as exhibitions and public functions. Cafes and restaurants line the roads towards Sasthamangalam and Kowdiar.
