Chackai and Eenchakkal are the two junctions on the NH 66 bypass closest to the airport. Mall of Travancore, opened in March 2018 by Malabar Developers and about 650 metres from the airport, is the anchor: around seven lakh square feet with a Cinepolis multiplex, a hypermarket, a food court and an atrium that hosts launches, kids' workshops, flea-style pop-ups and festive events. Hotels along the bypass handle weddings, corporate offsites and year-end parties. The area is the easiest part of town to reach by car from Kovalam, Kazhakkoottam or the city centre, and it is the usual pick-up point for airport-bound travellers.
