About Tagore Theatre
Tagore Theatre in Vazhuthacaud is the state government's main proscenium auditorium in the capital, one of the halls built across India to mark Rabindranath Tagore's birth centenary and extensively renovated in the 2010s. It is the principal venue of the International Film Festival of Kerala each December: the festival office and delegate services are set up in its compound, and the forecourt becomes the place where delegates gather between screenings. Through the rest of the year it stages touring plays, classical dance productions, music festivals, state award ceremonies and government cultural programmes. It has also been a regular stage for the Soorya Festival.
