About Manaveeyam Veedhi
Manaveeyam Veedhi is a 180-metre street that runs from the statue of the poet Vayalar Ramavarma on the Museum–Vellayambalam road to the statues of G. Devarajan and P. Bhaskaran at Althara Junction. Street plays were being performed here as early as 1995, it was inaugurated as a centre for cultural programmes in 2001, and the state began organising regular events under its Manaveeyam project in 2011. After a long closure for Smart City roadworks it reopened in 2023 as a walkable street with wall art, seating and food stalls. Evenings bring street theatre, protest art, buskers, reading circles and informal music sessions.
