About Jimmy George Indoor Stadium
Jimmy George Indoor Stadium at Vellayambalam, now called Jimmy George Sports Hub, opened in 1987 and is named after the Kerala volleyball player who went on to play professionally in Italy. It is run by the state's Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs. The 2,000-seat hall is marked for volleyball, basketball, handball, badminton and table tennis, and the complex adds a swimming pool, a large gymnasium, gymnastics and taekwondo training, and Astra, an altitude-simulation training centre. State and national indoor tournaments are held here, and the hall is also hired for exhibitions, award functions and public meetings.
