About Bharat Bhavan
Bharat Bhavan in Thycaud is a cultural institution set up in 1984 under the Kerala government's Department of Culture to promote exchange between the languages, arts and cultures of India's states. Its tree-shaded campus has indoor and open-air stages that are used by the institution and hired by theatre groups, music circles and film societies. Regular programming includes a Friday film screening, an Indian classical dance festival named after Kapila Vatsyayan, Sangamotsav exchange programmes with neighbouring states and the Indian Vasantholsavam, a showcase of troupes from across the country held in the Onam season. Rural theatre awards and translation awards are also presented here.
