Open ground

Putharikandam Maidanam is the open public ground opposite the East Fort gate, beside the KSRTC city depot, and the place where the city holds its largest rallies and fairs. Fairs here usually open in the afternoon and are busiest after 6 pm. Weekday afternoons are far quieter.
Leave your vehicle at home. The East Fort stand is next door and parking in the Fort and Chalai area is scarce.
The ground is unpaved in parts and turns muddy after rain; wear closed footwear in the monsoon months.
