Marathons & Running Events in Trivandrum

The next big race in Trivandrum is the UST Trivandrum Marathon on Sunday 15 November 2026, the third edition, starting from the UST campus in Technopark with a 5 am flag-off. It has a full marathon, a half marathon, a 10K and a 5K, with cut-offs of six hours for the full, three and a half for the half, 90 minutes for the 10K and an hour for the 5K, and registration is through the event website. The other fixture on the calendar is the Kovalam Marathon, which starts before dawn and runs along the coast road near the lighthouse and the Kerala Arts and Crafts Village; the 2026 edition was held on 13 September, with the full marathon flagged off at 3.30 am. Trivand Run is held each January, and through the cooler months, from October to February, colleges, hospitals, IT companies and charities organise 5K and 10K runs, walkathons and cyclothons, many starting from Kowdiar, the Museum, Shanghumugham or Technopark. Heat and humidity are the main constraints on this coast, which is why every race starts so early. Morning runners use the Museum and Kanakakunnu loop, the Kowdiar avenue and the Shanghumugham road.
