Holi 2027 in Trivandrum

Holi in 2027 is on Monday 22 March, with Holika Dahan the evening before. It is not a traditional Kerala festival and it is not a public holiday in the state, so in Thiruvananthapuram it is celebrated as an organised event rather than on the street, and most of it will happen on the weekend of 20 and 21 March. The hosts fall into three groups. North Indian community associations and families from the city's Gujarati, Marwari and Punjabi communities hold Holi milans with colours, music and food, usually for members and their guests. Event companies run ticketed colour parties with DJs, rain dance and organic gulal on hotel lawns, at resorts in Kovalam and in grounds near Kazhakkoottam, aimed at the Technopark workforce and students. And the campuses, from the College of Engineering Trivandrum to the national research institutes, hold their own celebrations for residents. Expect tickets from a few hundred rupees with colours included. Late March is hot and humid here, with daytime temperatures in the low to mid thirties, so most parties start mid-morning and wind up by early afternoon. This page lists Holi parties, colour festivals and community celebrations across Thiruvananthapuram as they are announced.

Good to know

  • Holi is a working Monday in Kerala. Look for events on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 March.
  • Buy tickets in advance; most colour parties cap entry and do not sell at the gate.
  • Use the organic colours supplied at the venue, wear old cotton clothes and oil your hair and skin beforehand.
  • Carry a change of clothes and a towel. Cab drivers often refuse passengers covered in colour.
  • Drink water steadily; late-March humidity makes a few hours outdoors more tiring than it looks.
